Veterans' Quit Resources

The Chicago Tobacco Prevention Project, an initiative led by Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago and the Chicago Department of Public Health, is working locally to address the burden of tobacco use among active-duty military personnel and veterans, as this group exhibits higher rates of lung cancer cases and deaths largely due to tobacco use.

If you're ready to quit smoking, there are free resources to help you:
  • The Illinois Tobacco Quitline's cessation counselors customize a quit smoking program for you, provide quit kits and information, and follow-up with you during the quit-smoking process. Call 1-866-QUIT YES (784-8937) to get started today.
  • Courage to Quit classes include information, practice skills and support to help you reach your smoke-free goals. Free local group and individual classes are ongoing. Find one today at QuitWinChicago.com
