Smoke-free worksites
Health and wellness have a major impact on the bottom line of a business. Although Illinois' smoke-free laws reduce exposure to secondhand smoke and improve the health of tenants, there are additional cost-saving strategies that will reduce tobacco use of tenants at your propertty.
The Chicago Tobacco Prevention Project provides free, customizable programming for worksites such as: quit readiness workshops; roundtables for human resources staff on how to address smoking with employees; and dissemination of materials highlighting the return on investment associated with efforts to address tobacco use among employees.
Evidence demonstrates that enhanced smoking policies result in:- reduced building maintenance costs
- reduced risk of fire
- reduced harmful exposure to secondhand smoke
- sustainable changes that will increase employee productivity and save employers money
