Nursing Assembly

HISTORY

Nursing Assembly logoThe Nursing Assembly began in response to a need in the community for nursing professionals to address respiratory health issues in a coordinated fashion. From the 17 founding members in 1978, the Nursing Assembly has grown steadily. The Nursing Assembly is devoted to promotion of optimal respiratory health in community by advancing the science and practice of respiratory care.

NA members shape and take advantage of RHAMC's programming, activities, services, and the award of research grants. They contribute their expertise to RHAMC committees including the Asthma Action Plan for Chicago, the COPD Initiative, the Lung Cancer Initiative, and the Women and Lung Health Initiative and provide support for the Flu Immunization Program, Hustle Up the Hancock, and CowaLUNGa. Today, the mission of the RHAMC is to prevent lung disease and promote healthy lungs through research, advocacy, and education. To that end, the RHAMC serves an estimated one million Cook County residents diagnosed with asthma, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other lung diseases through community-based interventions.
