No proof that trendy supplements work in asthma

Antioxidants, folic acid, and fish oil may be popular supplements, but the evidence just isn't there to support effects on asthma or allergies, a series of reviews found.
No better than mixed results emerged in each case in the review articles in the May issue of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
"The basic science looks really attractive. But when you translate it clinically, it doesn't look as good," commented John Oppenheimer, MD, an allergist at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. Read more.
