The 2010 CHEST Foundation and Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago Clinical Research Award in Women’s Lung Health
Amount: $10,000 for a 1-year research project
- be a current member of ACCP member. If currently not a member, apply online at www.chestnet.org.
- hold a degree of MD, DO, MBBCh, PharmD, PhD or its equivalent.
- be a citizen of the United States or have a J-1 or H-1 visa, and be working in a certified United States institution or organization, or be a Canadian who is working in a certified institution or organization in his/her province.
- NOT apply for other types of clinical research awards from The CHEST Foundation (ie, asthma, COPD, geriatric development research, lung transplantation, or women's health, etc.).
- propose a project that is focused on women's lung health that is based on clinical research and NOT basic or bench level research.
- The award recipient will receive $7,500 in July 2010, and the remaining $2,500 in February 2011 upon receipt of the required Progress Report. The Final Report will be due in June 2011.
- The funding can support the salary of the award recipient and/or purchase of supplies, the salaries of technical personnel, and other resources necessary for the completion of the research project.
- The funding cannot be used to acquire administrative or clerical support. Funding is to cover total costs; no indirect cost funds will be provided.

The CHEST Foundation was founded in 1996 and focuses its programs and initiatives on four key areas: critical care and end-of-life care, tobacco prevention, humanitarian service, and clinical research. Its mission is to provide resources to advance the prevention and treatment of diseases of the chest.
The mission of RHAMC is to promote healthy lungs and fight lung diseases through research, advocacy, and education. The organization serves an estimated 1 million Cook County residents who are diagnosed with asthma, lung cancer, COPD, emphysema and other lung diseases through community-based interventions.
Biomedical Research Grant: Pediatric Asthma
Blowitz-Ridgeway Foundation and Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago are pleased to announce a biomedical research grant in pediatric asthma through an initiative sponsored by the Blowitz-Ridgeway Foundation. This grant will be for a maximum of $50,000 per year for up to two years.
Amount: $50,000 per year for up to 2 years
Eligibility criteria: At the time of application, an applicant must:- have a faculty appointment
- be a United States citizen or United States permanent resident
- work for an institution in Illinois
All proposals are subject to peer review by a group of scientists who are familiar with pediatric asthma research.
