Test your home for radon

Radon test kitJanuary is National Radon Action Month, the perfect time to test your home. Radon is an odorless, invisible gas that is released from our soil and is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Testing your home is simple, and test kits are available at most hardware stores or online. Learn about radon in Illinois and new regulations for new regulations for childcare centers.

Celebrate 5 years of smoke-free Illinois

January 1, 2013 marked the five-year anniversary of The Smoke Free Illinois Act, one of our state's most significant public health victories of the last decade. Join us in celebrating this important milestone by thanking the restaurants you love.  Print out our Happy Anniversary reminder, and tuck a copy into the check holder the next few times you go out to eat.

Protect against flu

This year's flu season has started early and is expected to be particularly severe. Protect yourself and your family from flu by getting the vaccine. Become a certified asthma educator

Health professionals are invited to join our Certified Asthma Educator Preparatory Workshop on February 27 and 28. This workshop includes lectures, case studies, small group discussion and hands-on demonstration stations to prepare participants for the certified asthma educator examination.
